Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto stunned everyone in December 2020 when he regularised and increased the pay of 4,339 city employees. He also has a Christmas present for 215 of the city’s street sweepers: a hefty raise in their pay.
Sotto has upped the salary of 215 street sweepers who formerly earned between P5,000 and P8,000 per month to P12,000 per month.
“215 more employees from CENRO/SWMO whose salaries were only 5K/8K for the longest time, will now be increased to P12,000/month, basta kumpleto ang pasok (as long as they have perfect attendance).”
According to Sotto, the workers would also be required to work full-time, or eight hours every day, as opposed to the existing four-hour schedule.
“Marami sa kanila ay street sweeper, makakatulong ito para mapunan ang kulang sa mga eskenita.”
