Not as fortunate as other children, right from birth, Zanziman Ellie, a boy from Rwanda – a country in East Africa, suffered from microcephaly, which affected his intelligence. This year, he is 21 years old, but he can not speak, almost stays in the forest. Ellie is often shunned by the villagers because they think he is “different”.
Every day, Ellie walks up to 30km to hide in the woods. Also from here, Ellie’s nickname “Forest Boy” appeared.
Bullied by others, no friends to play with, the only person Ellie can trust and rely on is his mother. Most of the time, Ellie is in the woods, climbing trees, picking grass for food.
Recently, Ellie’s mother decided to change. The boy couldn’t just run away like that. He must come to the modern world, to communicate with other human beings, because he deserves it.
The video recording the scene of Ellie’s mother walking her son on the street, in a car, talking and shaking hands with other children, even with children with similar circumstances, has strongly touched the online community, and quickly went viral with hundreds of thousands of views, more than 80k likes and countless encouraging comments.
In this meaningful trip, everyone can see Ellie’s eagerness, curiosity, bright smile and happiness. For the first time, he slept in a “real” bed, ate delicious food and was enrolled in a school for disabled children. Hopefully Ellie’s upcoming journey will only be filled with fun and good memories.
Many netizens have praised Ellie’s mother for her boundless love for her son, as well as her courage in fighting for Ellie’s rights, helping him to have a normal life like any other child.
