Thanks to new technology, a company in China can complete a 10-story building in Changsha City in just 28 hours and 45 minutes.
Recently, China’s Broad Group has launched Living Building – a type of prefab apartment building with super-fast speed and is considered to be revolutionizing the construction industry. This building is assembled at a site in Changsha city with a large group of staff but only three cranes are needed.
All components of the building were previously fabricated in a factory and transported by truck to the construction site. These components are then placed in place by the crane and bolted together and connected to the electrical and plumbing.
Broad’s innovation in construction technology is essentially the concept of building a house like assembling a car. That is, all details are manufactured and assembled in a most modern factory in Changsha, then will be transported to the required location.
Made from Broad’s proprietary Bcore steel plates, the modular components can be folded up like a standard 12 m high crate for easy transport by both land and sea, just like the ordinary containers.
Once these crates arrive at the location where they need to be installed, all that remains to be done is considered “extremely simple”, which involves screwing the modules together to form a building, bronze shape. electricity and water connection.
Thanks to this technology, Broad was able to complete the 10-story building in just over a day. However, the speed of assembly is only one of the advantages that this corporation promotes. According to Broad, the Living Building’s stainless steel structure is 10 times lighter and 100 times stronger than conventional buildings. At the same time, it is also resistant to earthquakes and rainstorms.
In addition, the material is also considerably cheaper than traditional building structures and carbon steel buildings, thanks largely to a streamlined manufacturing process. With 22 cm thick insulation and a smart heat absorption system, the building’s energy costs are reported to be one-fifth to one-tenth that of traditional buildings.
Broad Corporation claims their new technology is called Living Building because of its versatility. It can be used for luxury residential and community buildings, as well as skyscrapers up to 200 stories high.
Thanks to the modular design, the building can be easily disassembled and moved to a new location. In addition, the number of walls, doors, windows, and balconies can also be changed after the construction is completed.
Finally, Broad claims their 100% stainless steel construction is 30 times more corrosion resistant than carbon steel and has a lifespan of over 1,000 years. However, all the above claims of this corporation will take time to be verified.
