Elon Musk’s son stirs social attention for appearance in father’s spacecraft presentation

X Æ A-XII was sitting in his father’s lap in an online meeting and stirred social media’s attention.

X Æ A-XII appeared in the first 2 minutes of his father’s 12-minute presentation at a conference held by the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) on November 18. The CEO of Tesla and SpaceX then was holding his son while sharing updates about the Starship spacecraft.

The photo of the Elon’s started to spread after writer Christian Davenport tweeted about it, captioning “Elon and baby giving a Starship presentation. As he once told me, “Mars needs babies.” Elon Musk retweeted it and it has more than 40K likes and thousands of comments and shares.

After the video was uploaded, many blamed Musk for his irresponsibility concerning the fact that he let family matters affect his work. On the other hand, some were excited about the appearance of the kid and the way the CEO of SpaceX watched his kid and worked at the same time. Amid his preparation for the presentation, Elon Musk took a moment to answer his son “that is a missile” as X Æ A-XII was inquisitive about the photos on the screen.

Many showed empathy with Elon because this is what we often face as working at home. “I have many things to criticize Musk but this act makes me more positive about the humanitarian inside that person,” an user named Dawt commented. Many called for normalisation of kid appearance in Zoom meetings because “even billionaires have to work online at home.”

X Æ A-XII drew attention right after his birth not only for being the son of the technology billionaire and singer Grimes but also for his special name which people often call “Baby X”.

Last February, Elon Musk uploaded a photo of him holding his kid while making a phone call. It got 470,000 likes, more than 10,000 comments, and 20,000 shares inside 2 days.
