The Global Citizen Live event is an initiative of the New York-based Global Citizen organization (US) to call for the prevention of the p.a.n.d.e.m.i.c and to address other global challenges. The show was broadcast live on September 25 and lasted for 24 hours with performances of around 70 artists around the world, including the South Korean boy group BTS.
From the stage at Sungnye Gate, an iconic cultural relic in Seoul, the capital of South Korea, 7 members of BTS sent greetings to the audience streaming the Global Citizen Live event. After that, the group and 40 dancers performed their two hits “Butter” and “Permission to Dance.” The management company Big Hit Music said that the stage was designed based on traditional Korean motifs in honor of the beauty of Sungnye Gate.

Besides BTS and international artists, a number of world leaders, social activists, and celebrities also attended the event. Notably, Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle were present at the Global Citizen Live event in New York to deliver a speech about the importance of the equitable distribution of C.O.V.I.D-19 vaccines, and call for the sharing of vaccines for developing countries.
